Music: My primary instrument is alto saxophone, but I
started learning piano in 3rd grade and guitar when I was a Junior in high
school. I have had the privilege of learning all the other instruments
while I was in college. I enjoy playing all of the instruments, but what
is even better is teaching my students how to play these instruments.
Background: I grew up in Arlington, SD a town of about
1,000 people. I grew up with 2 sisters who are in the field of education.
My dad is a truck driver and my mom works with home health care. I went to
high school in Arlington where I was active in Band, Choir, FCCLA, Oral Interp,
National Honor Society, and 4-H.
College: I went to South Dakota State University for 3
1/2 years to earn my music education degree. I enjoyed participating in
Communiversity Band, Concert Band, The Pride (marching band), and other
activities in Brookings.
Activities: I have worked at Lake Poinsett Camp for the
last 5 summers and throughout the school years as well. Part of working at
camp has always been the various activities we would take part in. I enjoy
tubing, water skiing, knee boarding, biking, and volleyball. I love doing
anything outdoors including hiking, running, and hunting.
Life: As of June 30, I am now married to Heath Perry. We
live north of Sioux Falls. We have a kitten names Oscar
who is about 5 months old!
